  2. A challenge is developing automaticity in letter formation so that children are not using all their energy on letter work.

  3. To remember to use the reading cues in writing
    Does it look right?
    Does it sound right?
    Does it make sense?
Making the link between reading and writing more explicit.

  7. A challenge is helping the students to make the connections between reading and writing. I have taught many students who excel in reading and are poor writers.

  8. A challenge is to support those students whose poor handwriting skills stop them from responding/recording their ideas. Ideally, typing skills should be incorporated into the literacy program for all students, preferably starting in the primary years.

  9. I see the benefit in using apps to assist students with their writing but the amount seems overwhelming and selecting what is most appropriate is very time consuming.

  10. A challenge is to gradually release a student to the extent that they are able to self monitor and self correct during writing.
So often, students just want to get the task 'done'

  14. The 'Extending Reading Power Through Writing' article states that writing is a 'slowed-down process' requiring the student to attend to so many aspects of their writing simultaneously. Many students need reminding of the complexity of the writing process - that it is challenging and complex, it does need editing and changing, it does need proofreading. My challenge is to keep reminding them of this, encouraging their perseverance with their writing and giving them adequate time for regular practice.

  16. A challenge for me is to use technology more in the classroom with my students. You get busy with everything else and it is easy to forget about.
